The little owl (Athene noctua)
This small owl, approximately 22 cm long, has cryptic coloring and is mainly nocturnal.
It thrives in various habitats, including farmland, woodland fringes, steppes, and semi-deserts.
Its diet includes insects, earthworms, other invertebrates, and small vertebrates.
Males defend territories, and females incubate a clutch of about four eggs in spring. As chicks grow, both parents provide food until they leave the nest around seven weeks of age.
